Who are we?
History
The Norfolk Blues Society (NBS) came into existence to promote, preserve and advance the tradition and future of live Blues music in Norfolk. It was first established in 2012 by founder members Stewart and Doreen Aitken after a visit to Nashville, Tennessee during which they connected with the local live blues scene and recognized the many benefits it brought to the community.
Since then, it has steadily grown from a small group of like minded individuals into a nationally recognised organisation responsible for bringing the joy of live blues to thousands every year, but the vision remains the same with all members dedicated to keeping the blues live!
Aims & Objectives
To preserve and promote live blues based music in Norfolk by provision of opportunities to learn and improve improvisation at blues jam sessions and blues based events.
Encouragement and support, including financial if appropriate, of young and inexperienced musicians to learn more about and participate in blues based music.
Collaboration with organisations and educational establishments who share NBS values.
